Twelve artisans, one devotion: to craft pieces that outlive the moments they preserve.
How it began
One box. One promise.
VORQENA began in 2016 with a single keepsake box, carved as a wedding gift. The bride kept it — and kept writing to us. "It's the only thing in our home that has its own story."
That letter has guided everything since. Today our studio fills with the same sounds as any fine woodshop — the murmur of planes, the tick of dovetail saws, and the occasional quiet laugh when a proof engraving is exactly right. What hasn't changed: every piece is still carved to order, finished by hand, and signed by the artisan who made it.
The timeline
How a VORQENA piece comes to be
2016 — The first box
A wedding-present keepsake box, carved by our founder Henrik. It sparked every letter from a customer named Amara.
2018 — The workshop grows
Three apprentices join. The collection expands from boxes to memory chests and the first carved gifts.
2020 — Personalisation, made right
We introduce digital engraving proofs so every customer approves their message before a single cut.
2022 — Going worldwide
Tracked delivery to 60+ countries. 1% for the Planet membership funds a planting partnership.
2026 — Twelve artisans today
45,000+ pieces delivered, still made to order, still signed by hand. And that original first box still sits on Amara's mantel.

Materially Honest
Every piece traces back to an FSC-certified forest or responsibly recovered timber. We never hide a seam behind a finish.
Made with Intention
Nothing mass-made, nothing rushed. Each commission is carved slowly, inspected by two pairs of hands, then signed.
Made to Be Kept
We design for decades, not seasons. That's why we refinish pieces for free, and why so many orders are second and third generations.
The workshop
Where the craft lives
From timber selection to the final wax, each VORQENA piece passes through twelve pairs of trained hands.
Joinery & assembly
Dovetails and biscuit-free joints are cut, dry-fitted, then assembled with hide glue that can be reversed a century later.
By Hand
Finishing & signing
Natural oils are rubbed in by hand, the piece is buffed, and the artisan signs the underside — as every VORQENA piece has since 2016.
